Delta Air Lines Boeing 757 and Aeromexico Boeing 737 jets collide in Mexico聽

A Delta Air Lines Boeing 757 and Aeromexico Boeing 737 was involved in a ground collision between two taxiways at MEX

A Delta Air Lines Boeing 757 and Aeromexico Boeing 737 collided at Mexico City International Airport (MEX), causing damage to both aircraft.

The collision occurred on April 17, 2023, while both aircraft were taxiing. The Delta Air Lines Boeing 757-200, registered as N694DL, was preparing for departure to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), and the Aeromexico Boeing 737-800 NextGeneration (NG), registered as XA-AMO, was about to depart for Ciudad Juarez International Airport (CJS) carrying out flight AM117.聽聽

According to a statement released by the airport, the collision occurred between taxiways B and D, with the wingtip of the Aeromexico Boeing 737 impacting the horizontal stabilizer of the Delta Air Lines Boeing 757. While no injuries were reported the airport said that 鈥渢he corresponding authorities began an investigation to determine the causes鈥. 

Meanwhile, the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (Agencia Federal de Aviaci贸n Civil, AFAC), stated that it had 鈥渋nitiated investigations to determine responsibility in the incident that occurred today between the Boeing 757 [鈥 and a Boeing 737 [鈥 during taxiing to the runway in use鈥. 

Both aircraft have remained on the ground since the incident. Flight AM117 from MEX to CJS was operated by another Aeromexico Boeing 737-800 NG, registered as XA-AMC.
