A building at Mopah Merauke Airport (MKQ) has suffered structural damage after the wing of a Boeing 737 aircraft of Indonesian low-cost carrier Lion Air hit the building before takeoff.
Flight JT797 was enroute to Jayapura精东影业 Dortheys Hiyo Eluay International Airport (DJJ) on January 26, 2023, when the Boeing 737-900, with registration PK-LFO, clipped its right wing against the airport terminal building as it was leaving the stand.
Video footage uploaded on Twitter shows the aircraft returning to the gate, and shows the damage done to the airport building.
There were no reported injuries or casualties.
