During May 2024, Airbus received an order for 20 A330neo aircraft from an undisclosed customer, plus seven A321neos from Nordic Aviation Capital.

On June 6, 2024, details of these transactions were laid out in Airbus鈥 monthly order and delivery summary report for the previous month.

Earlier this week, 精东影业 reported that Airbus had held discussions with assorted Chinese airlines regarding the potential sale of more than 100 A330neo widebody aircraft.

According to Airbus, the order for the 20 A330neo jets was placed on May 15, 2024.

In its latest monthly report Airbus also confirmed that it had delivered 53 aircraft to 34 customers during May, including its 600th A350.

The total number of A350s to have been delivered by Airbus since the aircraft was introduced on January 15, 2015, now stands at 602.

Air Lease Cooperation received the 602nd and Virgin Atlantic the 601st, but it was Lufthansa that took ownership of the 600th Airbus A350.

Turkish Airlines was the only other carrier to receive a new A350 in May 2024.

Airbus also delivered three new aircraft to Delta Air Lines, including two A321neos and a single A220-300, while Spirit Airlines received A320neos.

According to , Airbus deliveries were down 16% in May 2024, when compared with the same month last year.

Airbus has announced that the German Ministry of Interior has placed a record order for up to 44 H225 helicopters for the Federal Police.

The deal includes 38 firm orders with options for a further six H225 helicopters, which is popular among commercial operators and governmental agencies for its long range and all-weather capabilities. The contract also includes training amenities and spare part packages.

The H225精东影业 payload, range and advanced systems make it a versatile aircraft capable of conducting a large array of law enforcement and homeland security missions ranging from special forces transport to firefighting and disaster relief.

The H225 will replace the H155 and AS332 helicopters that have been in service with the German Federal Police for over 20 years. The order for the H225 will ensure a seamless transition for pilots and maintenance personnel.

The new fleet of H225 helicopters will be powered by Safran精东影业 Makila 2A engines. According to Safran, the Makila 2A, powering all variants of the H225, is a 2,100 shaft horsepower (shp) engine which will contribute to expanding the Bundespolizei’s operational capabilities.

The German Bundespolizei currently operates 94 Airbus helicopters, ranging from the single-engine H120 used for pilot training, to more than 40 twin-engine H135 family helicopters for several missions including emergency medical services. The Bundespolizei will receive support from Safran Helicopter Engines鈥 Germany facility in Hamburg.

Germany精东影业 partnership with Airbus began in 1962, when the Bundespolizei (at that time Bundesgrenzschutz) started operation of its Alouette II, manufactured by Airbus predecessor company A茅rospatiale.

鈥淭he Bundespolizei can look forward to a modern helicopter thanks to the continuous improvements we’ve made to our H225 in recent years. It will remain one of the most advanced helicopters available on the market for the decades to come,鈥 Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters said in a statement.

Deliveries are scheduled to start in 2029.

US low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines has announced it will defer new Airbus deliveries and place 260 pilots on furlough as it looks to 鈥渞eset the business and focus on the core airline鈥.

Spirit Airlines confirmed on April 8, 2024, that an agreement with Airbus meant that all aircraft scheduled to be delivered in the second quarter of 2025 through the end of 2026 will instead arrive between 2030 and 2031.听听

鈥淭hese deferrals do not include the direct-lease aircraft scheduled for delivery in that period, one each in the second and third quarter 2025, respectively,鈥 a spokesperson for Spirit Airlines said.

Spirit Airlines predicts that the deferment of Airbus deliveries will improve the company精东影业 liquidity position by approximately $340 million over the next two years.

There are no changes to the aircraft on order with Airbus that are scheduled to be delivered in 2027-2029.

“This amendment to our agreement with Airbus is an important part of Spirit’s comprehensive plan to bolster profitability and strengthen our balance sheet,” Ted Christie, Spirit’s President and CEO said. “Deferring these aircraft gives us the opportunity to reset the business and focus on the core airline while we adjust to changes in the competitive environment. In addition, enhancing our liquidity provides us additional financial stability as we position the Company for a return to profitability.鈥澨

The carrier also announced that 260 of its pilots will be placed on furlough from September 1, 2024, citing the grounded aircraft due to Pratt & Whitney GTF engine availability issues and the 2025/2026 delivery deferrals as the catalyst for the decision.

“Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to furlough Pilots given the grounded aircraft in our fleet and our deferral of future deliveries. We are doing everything we can to protect Team Members, while balancing our responsibility to return to positive cash-flow and thrive as a healthy company with long-term growth prospects,鈥 Christie added.

It is estimated that Spirit Airlines鈥 liquidity will be significantly boosted with between $150 million and $200 million compensation payment from Pratt & Whitney regarding its GTF engines.

The agreement with Airbus also defers by two years the exercise dates for optional aircraft included in Spirit’s purchase agreement.

There is no change to the total number of aircraft on order or Spirit Airlines鈥 options for additional aircraft.

Spirit Airlines was recently rocked after a federal judge blocked JetBlue精东影业 $3.8 billion takeover of airline in January 2024.听听

After Spirit Airlines and JetBlue announced on March 4, 2024, they will no longer pursue the merger Christie said he was 鈥渄isappointed鈥 however, remained 鈥渃onfident in our future as a successful independent airline鈥.听

Airbus has published its 2023 results confirming plans to 鈥渞amp up鈥 productions in the coming years and complete even more ambitious delivery targets.

However, the Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury insisted in the company精东影业 live press conference on February 15, 2024, that it will never compromise 鈥渜uantity over quality鈥 during production.听

In its 2023 results Airbus confirmed that the A220 ramp up continues with projections for a monthly production rate of 14 aircraft in 2026.

While the A320 family program is said to be progressing well towards the previously announced rate of 75 aircraft per month in 2026.

The Airbus A321XLR also entered the final stages of production in December 2023, with the aircraft expected to enter-into-service between July and September 2024.

On widebody aircraft, the Airbus continues towards a monthly rate of four aircraft for the A330 in 2024 and rate 10 in 2026 for the A350.

The end of year results also confirmed that Airbus delivered 735 aircraft in 2023, an 11% rise from the previous year, and plans for around 800 deliveries in 2024, while consolidated revenues increased 11% year-on-year to $70.1 billion.

Deliveries in 2023 comprised 68 A220s, 571 A320 Family, 32 A330s and 64 A350s.听

Responding to a question at the annual results press conference from a New York Times journalist regarding quality and safety in the wake of the Alaska Airlines flight 1282 incident Faury was passionate in response.

鈥淚t’s quite clear, it cannot be quantity over quality. We don鈥檛 want to deliver a number of planes, we want to deliver a number of planes that are high-quality and safe. That is something we make very clear to our teams. And we have a have a lot of discussions with the committee on those topics when we are in the acceleration, in particular at the end of the year when there are more planes coming to the delivery center,鈥 Faury said.

He added: 鈥淭o be extremely clear we cannot do quantity at the detriment of quality, because what we deliver first is quality and safety.鈥澨

Other Airbus results

Airbus also said that in 2023 it received 2,094 aircraft orders following cancellations, this compared with 820 in 2022.

These figures were buoyed in 2023 by large orders from the Indian carrier IndiGo for 500 Airbus A320neo family aircraft and an additional order from Turkish Airlines for 220 Airbus jets.

With such high demand for aircraft continuing throughout 2023 the current order backlog now stands at 8,598 commercial planes.

Airbus Helicopters鈥 deliveries were stable at 346 units (2022: 344 units) with revenues rising 4 %, while at Airbus Defense and Space they increased 2%.

鈥淚n 2023 we recorded strong order intake across all our businesses, and we delivered on our commitments. This was a significant achievement given the complexity of the operating environment. 鈥淲e will continue to invest in our global industrial system, while progressing on our transformation and decarbonisation journey. Our dividend proposals are a reflection of the strong 2023 financials, our growth prospects in 2024 and balance sheet strength,鈥 Faury concluded.听听

On November 8, 2023, Airbus Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Guillaume Faury made a prediction that the planemaker would deliver 鈥渁round 720鈥 aircraft by the year精东影业 end.

At the time, with a month to go before the end of 2023, Airbus鈥 running total stood at 623 deliveries, so another 97 aircraft needed to reach customers during December to achieve Faury精东影业 target.

On January 11, 2024, Airbus announced that in December 2023 it had in fact completed 112 aircraft deliveries to 51 customers, bringing the total for the year to 735 鈥 15 more than Faury had forecast, and 11% up on 2022 figures.听听

If that was not enough good news for Airbus, it also announced that a record breaking 2,319 gross orders (2,094 net) had been taken during 2023.

The orders included 1,835 A320 family aircraft and 300 A350 variants, bringing the current backlog to 8,598 aircraft.

鈥2023 was a landmark year for Airbus鈥 Commercial Aircraft business with exceptional sales and deliveries on the upper end of our target,鈥 Faury said of the news. “A number of factors came together to help us achieve our goals, including the increased flexibility and capability of our global industrial system, as well as the strong demand from airlines to refresh their fleets with our most modern and fuel-efficient aircraft.”

He added: 鈥淭his is a remarkable achievement. My thanks go to our customers, supplier partners and all the Airbus teams who made it happen.鈥

Some of the largest orders for new Airbus jets in 2023 came from Air India, easyJet and Turkish Airlines.

Christian Scherer, Airbus鈥 newly appointed CEO, Commercial Aircraft, said: 鈥淲e originally anticipated aviation to recover sometime in the 2023-2025 timeframe, but what we saw in 2023 was, alongside the single-aisle market, widebody return much sooner than expected, and with vigor.鈥

He added: 鈥淲e have never sold as many A320s or A350s in any given year, not to mention welcoming seven new customers for the A350-1000. Travel is back and there is serious momentum!鈥

and secured 1,314 new orders after cancellations.

Airbus has published its November 2023 delivery data, indicating that the planemaker is on track to reach its total annual target after 64 planes were delivered to 40 different customers last month.

When Airbus published its nine-month update to September 2023, Airbus Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Guillaume Faury, sounded relatively optimistic that the company would reach its target of 鈥渁round鈥 720 deliveries by the end of 2023.听

With November 2023 results now in, Airbus currently stands on 623 deliveries and therefore needs another 97 aircraft to reach customers in the final month of the year.听

鈥淲e鈥檝e delivered 71 planes in October. So, what we have to deliver for November and December this year is similar to what we did a year ago. So, it is indeed a big quarter, but we see we have part of that quarter already behind us with our performance in October. We think we are well placed for November and visibility for December. That精东影业 why we feel like we are in a good place to confirm the guidance of around 720 planes in 2023,鈥 Faury told Bloomberg on November 8, 2023.

According to , on average in the past three years Airbus has delivered 93 planes in December.听听

Airbus also confirmed that it added 113 gross orders to its books, including a repeat order for 30 more A220 aircraft from airBaltic at the Dubai Airshow 2023.

Another order at the Dubai Airshow came from Emirates as the airline purchased an additional 15 Airbus A350-900 widebodies.

Airbus also received an order for 60 A320neo family aircraft from leasing firm SMBC Aviation Capital on November 21, 2023.

On December 6, 2023, Boeing announced that it had delivered 351 of its popular 737 family of twinjets so far in 2023.听听

This total is just 25 airframes short of its revised annual target of 375-400 units targeted for the year.

The North African carrier EGYPTAIR has completed its second agreement to acquire aircraft at Dubai Airshow 2023.

Early on November 14, 2023, EGYPTAIR and Airbus executives gathered in front of a media audience to announce that the national flag carrier will bolster its fleet with 10 Airbus A350-900.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EGYPTAIR, Yehia Zakaria, confirmed that the first A350 will be delivered in 2025.

The airline head was joined by Airbus Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and Head of International, Christian Scherer.

“EGYPTAIR is a key partner of Airbus in the Middle East and Africa. We take immense pride in this partnership aimed at furthering the aviation industry. Our focus lies in the enhancement of our fleet to embrace some of the most contemporary aircraft available,鈥 Zakaria said.

The CEO added: “EGYPTAIR has firmed up an agreement with Airbus to procure 10 A350-900 aircraft, each boasting a capacity of 340 seats. These aircraft come equipped with cutting-edge technologies and Rolls-Royce XWB Trent engines, known for their modern design and reduced fuel emissions and consumption. As we tackle growing demand across our network, this aircraft is the optimal choice.”

The deal marks Airbus鈥 first order for widebody aircraft at Dubai Airshow after airBaltic placed an order for 30 narrowbody A220-300 aircraft on the opening day, with hold options for 20 more.听听听

鈥淥nce delivered the A350-900 will be EGYPTAIR精东影业 flagship aircraft. Adding the world精东影业 most modern and efficient widebody aircraft to the airline精东影业 fleet will be instrumental in expanding its offering, opening new opportunities particularly in Western US and the far East,鈥 Scherer said.

EGYPTAIR also announced on November 13, 2023, it had agreed to a leasing agreement with Air Lease Corporation for 18 Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets.听听

The deal was confirmed at the Dubai Airshow alongside Boeing, with the EGYPTAIR CEO, also confirming that the airline plans to build its fleet of 125 planes by 2028

EGYPTAIR received its first Airbus A321neo aircraft on February 27, 2023, becoming the first airline in Africa to operate the type.

Once the narrowbody jet touched down in Egypt, it officially became the first aircraft of the type to be operated by an African carrier.

According to , EGYPTAIR currently has 66 active aircraft with the Boeing 737-800 dominating the fleet at 27 jets.

There is speculation that Turkish Airlines will announce a large order with Airbus at Dubai Airshow 2023 which will reportedly include the purchase of 85 A350-900s and 15 A350-1000s.

Airbus has announced details of the planemaker精东影业 past nine months with the release of its 2023 results so far.

Key to the announcement was Airbus鈥 confident prediction that the company would ramp up production of its narrowbody and widebody aircraft in the future.

Discussing the results following the nine-month update, Airbus Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Guillaume Faury, told in an interview that the planemaker expects 40,000 aircraft to be delivered over the next 20 years.听

Airbus has seen a strong performance in 2023 with net orders of 1,241 aircraft after cancellations compared with 647 aircraft in the first nine months of 2023. This now leaves the order backlog at a whopping 7,992 commercial aircraft.

So far, a total of 488 commercial aircraft have been delivered in 2023, comprising 41 A220s, 391 A320 family, 20 A330s and 36 A350s.

The company plans to fulfil its target of 鈥渁round鈥 720 deliveries by the end of 2023 so faces a busy end to the year.

That精东影业 why we feel like we are in a good place to confirm the guidance of around 720 planes in 2023,鈥 Faury told Bloomberg.

The delivery of 71 planes in October 2023, represented an increase of 18% from the same month in 2022 and leaves Airbus needing to deliver 161 jets over the final months of the year.

Consolidated revenues increased 12% year-on-year to 鈧42.6 billion ($45.5B) and Consolidated EBIT Adjusted increased to 鈧3,631 million ($3,884M) so far in 2023 against (3,724M) over the same period.

Notably Airbus confirmed that it will increase its production rate for the A350 to 10 aircraft a month in 2026. Faury also said that this could increase to 13 a month in the future.

The ramp-up on the A220 program is continuing towards a monthly production rate of 14 aircraft in 2026 and Airbus will continue to target a rate of four a month for the A330 in 2024.

Production on the A320 family program is progressing well towards the previously announced rate of 75 aircraft per month in 2026.

鈥淲e continue to make progress on our operational plan in a global environment that has become increasingly complex. The nine-month earnings reflect higher commercial aircraft deliveries, the good performance in helicopters as well as charges linked to the reassessment of certain satellite development programs,鈥 Faury said in the Airbus statement.

The CEO added: 鈥淒emand for our commercial aircraft is very strong with a continuing recovery in the widebody market. We expect the supply chain to remain challenging as we progress on the production ramp-up. In that context, we maintain our guidance for the full year.鈥

The latest financial report also confirmed that the A321XLR is progressing towards certification, with entry-into-service expected to take place in Q2 2024.
