A portion of the roof of Delhi International Airport (DEL)精东影业 Terminal 1 roof has collapsed due to heavy rainfall and winds, resulting in the death of at least one person and injuries to several others.

The incident occurred around 05:00 local time on June 28, 2024, when the airport area received about 148.5mm of rain in a span of just three hours, more than the average for all of June, according to India’s weather office.

A portion of the canopy at the departure area of Terminal 1 collapsed, and flight operations were then shut down until 14:00 local time.

During a press briefing, India精东影业 Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu told reporters that the entire terminal had been evacuated and an investigation into the collapse ordered.

Video footage and photographs posted on social  media platforms such as X (formerly known as Twitter) show pillars supporting the roof smashing into cars parked along the airport’s Terminal 1.

Airport officials said that the roof sheet and the support beams gave in, damaging four cars parked in the pick-up and drop area of the terminal.

Reports indicate that one person has died, with six others injured.

Naidu stated that a compensation fee of two million rupees ($24,000) will be paid to the family of the deceased, and 300,000 rupees ($3,600) to those injured.

The minister also declared that all flights scheduled until 14:00 have been canceled, with affected passengers receiving full refunds or alternate flight options. Flights scheduled to depart from Terminal 1 were diverted to Terminals 2 and 3 of the airport.

Flight tracking site Flightradar24 showed that at least 10 flights were canceled and another 40 delayed, while departures from Delhi airport were running late by an average of 50 minutes.

The airport confirmed the incident on social media, saying that emergency personnel are working to provide all necessary assistance and medical aid to those affected.

A 30-year-old man was arrested at Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport (SYD) after breaching airport security, entering the tarmac and attempting to enter the cargo hold of a Sri Lankan Airlines aircraft.

The incident occurred in the afternoon of April 26, 2024 when the man reportedly made his way past airport immigration controls and onto the tarmac.

Video footage of the incident, which has been published across social media platforms, shows the moment Australian Federal Police (AFP) and airport ground workers stopped the man from getting inside the aircraft精东影业 cargo hold.

The man appears to have reached the platform leading to the aircraft cargo area. The video clip shows airport ground workers lowering the platform so that AFP officers can get hold of the man, who can then be seen resisting until he was subsequently pinned to the ground.

The aircraft, a Sri Lankan Airlines Airbus A330, was due to operate flight UL 607 bound for Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) in Colombo.

鈥淎FP officers arrested a man, 30, who allegedly ran through the main screening area and gained access to restricted areas, including the apron”, the AFP said in a statement seen by Australian media.

The man was eventually given a court attendance notice for breaching restricted areas of the airport. Following his arrest, he was also issued a 12-month ban from SYD Airport.

An American man is facing up to 12 years in prison in Turks and Caicos after customs officials at Providenciales International Airport (PLS) found ammunition in his luggage.

Ryan Tyler Watson (40), of Oklahoma, flew to the British Overseas Territory with his wife on April 7, 2024, celebrating his birthday.

Airport officials found the ammunition in Watson精东影业 carry-on luggage, contained inside a ziplock bag. Watson claimed that he was not aware of having brought ammunition with him from a previous hunting trip and that it was entirely accidental.

Although this appears to have been an honest mistake, lawmakers in Turks and Caicos had already passed a bill creating a 12-year minimum prison sentence for anyone caught bringing a firearm or ammunition to the islands.

“They were hunting ammunition rounds that I use for whitetail deer,” Watson said in an interview with .

“I recognized them, and I thought, ‘Oh, man, what a bonehead mistake that I had no idea that those were in there鈥,” Watson said.

Watson精东影业 wife, Valerie, was allowed to return to the US and is now reunited with their children.

However, Watson himself remains in Turks and Caicos and has been charged with one count of possession of ammunition.

According to the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, Watson appeared in the Supreme Court on April 23, 2024.

Although Watson was granted $15,000 bail, he still cannot travel out of Turks and Caicos Islands without the court精东影业 permission. He has also been required to surrender his passport and other travel documents to the court, and report to Grace Bay Police Station between the hours of 0800-1600 local time on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Watson has been given an address in Providenciales where he can stay.

Passengers at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) in Lagos vented their anger and frustration on airport equipment and airline check-in counters after a series of flight cancellations.

The incident occurred on February 12, 2024 at around 18:00 local time, after Nigerian airline Dana Air announced the cancellation of two flights bound for Port Harcourt Airport (PHC) and Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport (QOW) in Owerri. Both flights were originally scheduled to depart at noon.

Nigerian media outlets reported that Dana Air officials informed waiting passengers that flights that had been postponed from February 11, 2024  would be departing on February 12, 2024 at 10:00 and 12:00 noon.

One of the frustrated passengers took to X (formerly Twitter) to post about the cancellations that stretched from 08:00 to 20:00

鈥淯nfortunately, around 6 PM, Dana announced more cancellations with no concrete plan on refunds or rebookings. That is when the furious passengers started vandalizing airport property,鈥 an aviation official told local media outlets.

鈥淪ome passengers had been waiting since yesterday after their initial flights were canceled. They were promised the flights would depart today, but after over three hours of further delays, there were more cancellations,鈥 the official added.

Witnesses told Nigerian media that several passengers started disconnecting the airline精东影业 check-in computers, and that some airline staff were also 鈥渞oughed up鈥 by the angry crowd.

Airport security eventually took control of the situation, and the enraged passengers were able to depart to their destinations at 21:00 local time.

A tow-vehicle ground worker for Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) was killed in a freak accident after he was hit by towed aircraft.

In an email statement sent to 精东影业, Airport Authorities Hong Kong (AAHK) said airport authorities received a report around 03:00 local time on February 6, 2024, stating that a China Aircraft Services staff member had been found lying on a taxiway.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and pronounced the man dead.

After initial investigations, it is believed that the man was riding in the passenger seat of a tow truck when he fell out of the vehicle and was hit by the plane being pulled behind.

According to AAHK, it is suspected that the seat belt was left unfastened while the staff member was working on the tractor and police have classified the incident as a traffic accident.

A Channel News Asia report said police have arrested the vehicle’s 60-year-old driver on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death.

The airport said it is facilitating investigations, which are underway.

鈥淎AHK expresses sorrow over the death of the airport staff, and extends its condolences to his family. AAHK has contacted the concerned ground services company to follow up on providing assistance to the deceased精东影业 family,鈥 the airport said.聽
