Flight DL 136 was enroute to Amsterdam from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) on July 2, 2024, when it was discovered that a portion of in-flight meals served were spoiled.

An airline spokesperson told 精东影业 that the flight crew consulted with medical experts, who recommended the diversion to JFK.

The front of a Delta Air Lines A321neo aircraft burst into flames at Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA), prompting full evacuation of all passengers onboard onto the tarmac.

The incident occurred on the evening of May 6, 2024, when Flight DL 604 had just arrived from Cancun International Airport (CUN) and the aircraft had reached the gate.

When the terminal精东影业 electrical network was plugged into the aircraft, it generated sparks and eventually burst into flames.

Surveillance video of the incident has been posted on social media, including X (formerly Twitter).

The footage captured the moment sparks began to fly from under the cockpit after the aircraft was plugged into the ground electrical network. This then turned into a fireball.

A spokesperson for Seattle Tacoma Airport told The New York Post that the pilots became aware of smoke soon after landing, and immediately instructed the crew to deploy the emergency slides.

The surveillance video also captured the moment slides were deployed and passengers evacuated. Some passengers also used the middle emergency exit window and walked onto the aircraft wing to reach the inflated chute.

Only two-thirds of the 189 passengers exited via the slides, as the rest had already deplaned through the passenger loading bridge.

鈥淥ut of an abundance of caution, slides were deployed and passengers still on board deplaned via the rear of the aircraft. Passengers were fully evacuated, and those deplaned to the ramp returned to the terminal via the ramp stairs,鈥 Delta told The NY Post, adding that the aircraft had since been removed from service for inspection and maintenance.

Fire officials also responded to the incident, although the fire had gone out on its own.

No injuries were reported and no passenger needed any medical attention.聽 All 189 passengers and six crew members were safe.

Airlines in the United States (US) have launched legal action against the Department of Transportation (DoT) over new rules requiring more cost transparency when passengers are purchasing tickets.

The US airlines, which include Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, United Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines, argue that a new rule would confuse potential customers with too many details while buying tickets online.

Headed by Airlines for America, the group of carriers asked a federal appeals court on May 10, 2024, to overturn the rule, according to .听听

鈥淎irlines go to great lengths to make their customers knowledgeable about these fees,鈥 Airlines for America said in a statement. 鈥淭he ancillary fee rule by the Department of Transportation will greatly confuse consumers who will be inundated with information that will only serve to complicate the buying process.鈥澛

On April 24, 2024, the DoT announced that it would require airlines to tell consumers upfront what fees they charge for checked bags, a carry-on bag, for changing a reservation, or cancelling a reservation.

鈥淭his ensures that consumers can avoid surprise fees when they purchase tickets from airlines or ticket agents,鈥 the DoT said.

Under the rules each fee must be disclosed the first time that fare and schedule information is provided on the airline精东影业 online platform and cannot be displayed through a hyperlink.

Airlines were also required to describe any prohibitions or restrictions on changing or cancelling a flight.

In response to the legal action taken by the airlines the DoT said: 鈥淲e will vigorously defend our rule protecting people from hidden junk fees and ensuring travelers can see the full price of a flight before they purchase a ticket. Many air travelers will be disappointed to learn that the airline lobby is suing to stop these common-sense protections.鈥

Southwest Airlines was not involved in the legal action because its passengers can check two bags for free and changing or cancelling flights is not charged.聽

The flights to Ireland (DL114) depart Minneapolis at 22:00 arriving in Dublin at 10:45 the following morning.

Delta精东影业 45-strong fleet of Boeing 767-300ERs is configured to carry 216 passengers in a three-class layout 鈥 26 in business, 18 in premium economy, and 172 in economy.

The new route comes as demand for travel between Ireland and the United States is soaring, according to daa, the operator of Dublin Airport. According to a Dublin Airport statement, 鈥淒elta Air Lines has been a key partner of Dublin Airport for nearly four decades, initially establishing a direct route between Dublin and Atlanta in 1988. The commencement of Delta services to Minneapolis comes just two weeks after Aer Lingus began its own direct services on the route. The renewed flights (which were halted following the pandemic) began on April 29, 2024, and operate four times weekly, using either Airbus A330-200s or A330-300s depending on demand.听听

A passenger is suing Delta Air Lines for $1 Million after he claimed that he suffered hip and rib injuries after an armrest gave way.

The , filed in California Southern District Court, detailed that the passenger, Joseph Hippensteel, was traveling with Delta to London-Heathrow Airport (LHR) from an undisclosed airport in California with a connection in Seattle Tacoma Airport (SEA) on May 16, 2022.

During the first leg of his journey to SEA airport, Hippensteel alleged that the armrest buckled under his weight when he leaned on it to fasten the seatbelt prior to departure.

According to the lawsuit, the armrest gave way, causing Hippensteel to collapse on the floor and injure his rib and hip. He was then assisted by a flight attendant and a physician on board the aircraft and engineers were called to check the armrest.

However, the engineers were not able to repair the armrest and the flight departed.

In the lawsuit, Hippensteel精东影业 lawyers claim that under the , Delta should be liable for his injuries. The Montreal Convention establishes airline liability in the case of death or injury to passengers on international flights, as well as in cases of delay, damage or loss of baggage and cargo.

Although Hippensteels鈥 injury occurred on a domestic flight, he argued that the laws of the convention still apply because the domestic leg was part of an international flight.

精东影业 reached out to Delta Air Lines for comment regarding the lawsuit.

The North American aviation industry is one of the most competitive markets in the world with airlines battling to get ahead of one another and be the number one choice for customers.

While airlines continue to wrestle with ways to create happy customers, the latest North America Airline Satisfaction Study suggests that it may be easier to achieve than they think.听听

According to the latest annual survey, released on May 8, 2024, airlines that performed best were those with friendly staff who are simply nice to their passengers.

Against the backdrop of crowded airports, expensive fares and annoying fellow travelers the study found that carriers making big investments in staff training and trying to improve the overall flight experience were the ones with the happiest flyers.

鈥淭here are many aspects to the overall air travel experience that airlines cannot control, but one area in which they can profoundly influence is the positive effect that airline staff has on passengers The big takeaway from this year精东影业 study is the power of people to positively influence the overall flight experience,鈥 Michael Taylor, Senior Managing Director of travel, hospitality, retail and customer service, said.

Taylor added: 鈥淎irlines that are investing in staff training and recruitment are finding ways to overcome the negative effects of crowded gates and planes simply by being nice to their customers.鈥

The study also discovered that the two biggest factors driving overall airline customer satisfaction are ease of travel and trust and while the cost of a ticket was important a seamless journey was more of a priority.

The top performing airlines were also those that made substantial investments in the people side of their business and the level of trust passengers have in their carrier is correlated to media coverage about that airline.聽

Study results

The two big winners for customer satisfaction in this year精东影业 JD Power study were Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines with Air Canada and Frontier Airlines performing worst.

For customer satisfaction in the first and business segment, Delta received a score of 743 out of 1,000 and JetBlue Airways (736) ranked second.

Delta was top for a second year running in the premium economy segment with a score of 716. Alaska Airlines (687) ranked second and American Airlines (684) in third place.

In the economy segment Southwest claimed first place with a score of 716, while Delta (651) came second and Allegiant Air (633) third.

The study, fielded from March 2023 through March 2024, was based on 9,582 passengers that had flown on a major North America airline within the preceding month.

Passengers were asked to use a poor-to-perfect six-point rating scale and rate the carriers on airline staff, digital tools, ease of travel, level of trust, on-board experience, pre/post-flight experience and value for price paid.聽 聽
