The first new Embraer E195-E2 is scheduled to join the LOT Polish Airlines fleet by the end of July this year with all aircraft deliveries completed in Q3 2024.

LOT was the first operator of the brand-new E-Jet in 2004 with the maiden flight completed by an E170 on an 85-minute trip from Warsaw to Vienna on March 17, 2024.

Since that flight Embraer has delivered 1,800 E-Jets with the most recent received by Royal Jordanian Airlines in May 2024.

Embraer hands over its 1800th E-Jet to Royal Jordanian Airlines

The Canadian airline, described as a 鈥渄isrupter鈥� to the aviation industry, said it had seen extremely positive results since it introduced the Embraer E195-E2 in 2023.聽聽

Porter already has an existing order for E195-E2s, so the total order now stands at 75 jets, with an option for 25 more further down the line.  

The deal is valued at $2.1 billion and deliveries from this additional order are set to start in 2025.  

Porter has already taken delivery of 24 E195-E2s, and recently announced new flights to Las Vegas, Miami, San Francisco, and Los Angeles with Mexico and the Caribbean also planned for the future.

Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) and Montr茅al-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) are also seeing new services with the E195-E2. 

Porter has chosen to configure the 146-seat aircraft in a comfortable 132-seat all-economy configuration.

The aircraft, which have already been certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC), will be put to work for Scoot, a low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, from 2024.

Embraer and CAE recently announced the establishing of a state-of-the-art E2 full flight simulator and pilot training program in Singapore, set to commence operations by the end of this year.

According to Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, the eye-catching color scheme, which features a realistic depiction of an eagle head covering the nose and frontal part of the fuselage, aims to evoke this aircraft type精东影业 鈥渆agle-like efficiency and quite flight鈥�. 

Embraer has a long tradition of so-called 鈥減rofit hunter鈥� aircraft. These are specially decorated aircraft the Brazilian manufacturer uses for marketing purposes, flying them to airshows and promotional events all over the world. 

The name is a reference to the E2 family of aircraft and its operational efficiency credentials. Embraer claims the E2 regional jet helps airlines increase profits by delivering lower operational costs than its competitors in this market segment (aircraft for around 100 passengers). 

Other Profit Hunter aircraft used by Embraer have featured, successively, designs inspired by a lion, a shark and a snow leopard.  

As of October 24, 2023, Embraer has received 34 orders for the E190 E2 (16 of which have already been delivered) and 236 for the E195 E2 (63 delivered). 

Embraer精东影业 Pool Program, which already assists more than 60 airlines worldwide, will provide support for a wide range of repairable components used by the E2 jets.

Single pilot operations: the aircraft evolution that fires up aviation debate

The Franco-Italian regional aircraft maker ATR 75 new orders at Le Bourget worth a whopping $1.7 billion total. On the second day of the Paris Airshow, June 18, 2019, leasing company Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) for 35 ATR72-600s, with options for a further 35 and purchase rights for another 35 of the turboprops. Deliveries of the initial 35 aircraft are scheduled to begin in 2020.

The commitments announced during the airshow also include 17 orders for the new ATR42-600S or Short Take Off and Landing (STOL) variant of the ATR 42. Ahead of the planned official launch of the variant, the company has already announced three launch customers for the new version, including Air Tahiti, Elix Aviation Capital and one undisclosed customer. Air Tahiti  two ATR 42-600S and Elix Aviation 10 ATR 42-600S at Le Bourget.

Meanwhile, Brazilian plane maker Embraer sealed a total of 78 new deals. On the first day of the airshow, June 17, 2019, the company United Airlines for up to 39 E175s. The contract, estimated to be worth $1.9 billion at list prices, includes 20 firm orders and 19 options for aircraft in a 70-seat configuration. Deliveries of the planes are planned to begin in the second quarter of 2020.

Embraer found another major customer in KLM and its regional airline KLM Cityhopper, which its intentions to buy up to 35 E195-E2 jets, comprising 15 firm orders and purchase rights for a further 20 aircraft of the same model. The deal is valued at $2.48 billion at list prices. With a fleet of 49 E-Jets 鈥� 32 E190s and 17 E175s 鈥� at its regional subsidiary, KLM is the largest Embraer aircraft operator in Europe.

At the show, the Brazilian regional plane maker also signed a firm order with Fuji Dream Airlines (Japan) for two E175 jets and a contract with Binter (Spain) for two additional E195-E2s.

The aircraft, in a single-class configuration with 136 seats, will be used by TUI Belgium on short and medium-haul routes from regional airports in the country, the vacation specialist said on October 20, 2022.  

鈥淭he airplanes will operate mostly out of Antwerp, from where they will fly to more distant airports, which will allow us to expand into new holiday destinations from Northern Belgium.鈥� said Marco Ciomperlik, Chief Airline Officer, TUI Group. 

The three new aircraft, powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, will be leased from AerCap, with deliveries scheduled to take place between March and May 2023, the companies announced. 

AerCap was the launch lessor customer of Embraer精东影业 E-Jets E2 program in 2019. It has a total of 45 Embraer E190-E2s and E195-E2s owned and on order. 

TUI already operates the first generation of the E190, Embraer noted. 鈥淭he economics of the E195-E2 combined with its comfort, is a win-win for TUI 鈥� allowing the operator to increase capacity and delight their guests, while still reducing fuel costs and lowering emissions,鈥� commented Martyn Holmes, Chief Commercial Officer, Embraer Commercial Aviation 

SalamAir has signed a firm order for six E195-E2 aircraft, with purchase rights for a further six aircraft in a deal worth a total $934.6 million at list prices. The Muscat-based low-cost carrier said the aircraft will be delivered in a two-class configuration with 135 seats, starting at the end of 2023.  

The airline精东影业 chief executive, Captain Mohamed Ahmed, said the new aircraft will allow the airline to open up new routes to local and regional cities.   

鈥淭he new fleet will be used on domestic flights initially, including the 4 oil fields and 4 international airports within Oman, as we receive more aircraft, we will be able to use them on regional airports in neighbouring countries which today are not connected to Oman,鈥� Captain Ahmed said. 

Meanwhile, Royal Jordanian signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Brazilian manufacturer at the Istanbul Air Show to introduce the E190-E2 and the E195-E2 to its fleet. The airline plans to operate 10 of the Embraer aircraft on short-haul routes within the region.  

Royal Jordanian CEO Samer Majali noted that the carrier has been operating Embraer aircraft for 15 years now and choosing the same original type of aircraft will reduce the investment needed for pilot training and spare parts provisioning, plus help keep down crew scheduling and maintenance costs.  

Royal Jordanian精东影业 E195-E2s will seat 12 passengers in Crown Class and 108 in economy, while the smaller version will also feature 12 of the premium seats and 80 economy seats.  

The preliminary deal for the E2 jets is part of a wider plan by Royal Jordanian to modernize its fleet. It has selected the A320neo for its narrow-body fleet and is in talks with Boeing on an order for wide-body aircraft.  

Overall, the carrier plans to increase its fleet from 24 aircraft currently to over 40 in the next five years.   

The Embraer E195-E2 deliveries are expected to start in the second half of 2022.    

Having signed the purchase contract at the Farnborough Airshow 2022, Porter will bring its order book with Embraer to a total of 100 E195-E2 aircraft. It is worth noting that Porter精东影业 order book with Embraer also includes purchase rights for 50 additional E195-E2.

The news comes one year after Porter ordered 30 Embraer E195-E2 jets, with purchase rights for a further 50 aircraft. 

鈥淭he aircraft will become core to our fleet, as Porter reshapes passenger expectations for air travel in same way we did over 15 years ago. Announcements are forthcoming that will detail our initial routes, in-flight product and other details,鈥� Michael Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines said. 

The E195-E2 is the largest aircraft in Embraer精东影业 E-Jet E2 family. The aircraft has a layout of seats varying from 120 to 146. Carrying a full load of passengers, the E195-E2’s range extends to 2,600 nautical miles (4,815 kilometers). 

The two days of ground tests took place at Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL), Florida, the United States. After the ground tests, the E195-E2 conducted a 70-minute test flight at Vero Beach Regional Airport (VRB) in Florida. 

The test flight validated that Embraer精东影业 E-Jets E2 family can fly on both engines with blends of up to 100% SAF without any compromise to safety or performance. 

鈥淩eplacement of older aircraft by new generation products and scaling up SAF production are the two most effective actions commercial aviation can take now to achieve a significant reduction in emissions,鈥� said Rodrigo Silva e Souza, vice president strategy and sustainability at Embraer Commercial Aviation. 

鈥淪AF is a core part of our sustainability road map, and we continue to work with industry partners and regulators to support the development of a drop-in standard for 100% SAF,鈥� said Graham Webb, chief sustainability officer at Pratt & Whitney. 鈥淭his test proves that GTF engines can operate on any fuel, and that the E-Jets E2 family is ready for 100% SAF certification once the industry finalizes the standard for unblended SAF.鈥� 

According to the manufacturer, all Pratt & Whitney engines and Embraer jets are currently certified to operate with SAF blended up to 50%.
