Noumea-La Tontouta Airport closed to flights amid New Caledonia riots

Noum茅a-La Tontouta Airport (NOU) announced the cancellation of commercial flights as the city of Noum茅a, in the French overseas collectivity of New Caledonia, grapples with political tensions and violent riots.聽 聽

Airport authorities have advised affected passengers to stay updated by contacting their respective airlines directly. 

At the time of writing, the only flight still operating at the airport was an oncoming flight of the French government, CTM1017, operated by the French Air Force Airbus A330 registered F-UJCT. 

The recent unrest in Noum茅a comes amid intense discussions during a parliamentary session concerning a constitutional reform being contested by supporters of New Caledonian independence.
