IrelandӰҵ Dublin Airport (DUB) declared a state of ‘Full Emergency’ after a Ryanair flight arrived with landing issues on the airportӰҵ south runway on April 9, 2023.
Ryanair flight FR5542 from Liverpool touched down in DUB airport at about 17:30 when one of the Boeing 737 aircraftӰҵ tyres blew out, causing the landing gear to partially collapse. Huge sparks flew from underneath the aircraft as it landed.
“A Full Emergency was declared at Dublin Airport this afternoon following the arrival of Ryanair flight FR5542 from Liverpool Airport,” Dublin Airport posted on Twitter. “Passengers disembarked the aircraft normally. Air traffic flows into Dublin Airport were restricted during the incident.”
A spokesperson for Ryanair told Irish media outlet that the aircraft had experienced “a minor technical issue with its nose landing gear upon landing”.
“Passengers and crew disembarked normally and the aircraft will shortly be towed back to the hangar for further inspection by Ryanair engineers,” the spokesperson added.
The incident occurred just 2 days before US President Joe Biden arrived in Belfast on April 11, 2023 for a 4-day official visit to Ireland.
